Better Schools in Colombia
Our Aims
With your help, Save the Children is planning on building on all our successes achieved so far to reach even more children. We are aiming to:
Get More Children Into School
We will make sure that disabled children can access an education by:
- Approaching six candidates for public office to convince them of the importance of inclusive education and the need to incorporate this issue into their government plans
- Providing schools with special equipment for disabled children and young people
Train More Teachers
- Train teachers in protecting children from abuse and sexual exploitation at six schools
- Develop a diploma programme on inclusive education and support 30 teachers to complete the course so that pupils don’t drop out of school
- Train a further 170 teachers in inclusive education methods so that children are fully engaged in lessons
Enable More Children to Express Themselves
- Equip 6 more schools with student radio stations and train students in radio programming and journalism so they can express their views and those of their peers
- Set up more playgrounds for children to play and involve low-income families in sports activities
Give More Children the Materials they Need to Learn
- Provide 330 more uniforms and pairs of shoes for children at six education institutes
- Provide schools with specialised learning materials for children and young people with learning difficulties
- Provide more children with at least one nutritious school meal a day so they receive a meal and do not drop-out of school.
FAIR INSTANT has already helped many children in Colombia to receive an education.
